Surah Al-Mutaffifin

Those Who Give Less

المطففين
Arabic Name المطففين
Meaning of the Name Those Who Give Less
Revealed In Makkah
Type Makki Surah
Total Ayahs 36 Ayahs
Main Message A Makki surah that begins by condemning those who cheat in measure and weight, warns that all people will stand before the Lord of the worlds, contrasts the records of the wicked and the righteous, and shows the final reversal when believers will be rewarded while the mockers are humbled.
Why It Matters It teaches that dishonesty in business and daily dealings is spiritually dangerous, that sins can cover the heart like rust, that records of deeds are real, and that mockery of believers will be answered with perfect justice in the Hereafter.
Purpose It trains the heart to be honest in giving and taking, fear standing before Allah, protect the heart from sin’s rust, seek the high record of the righteous, and stay patient when mocked for faith because Allah’s final judgment will reveal the truth.
