Surah Al-Inshiqaq

The Splitting Open

الانشقاق
Arabic Name الانشقاق
Meaning of the Name The Splitting Open
Revealed In Makkah
Type Makki Surah
Total Ayahs 25 Ayahs
Main Message A Makki surah that describes the sky splitting open, the earth stretching out and casting out what is inside it, then reminds the human being that he is moving with effort toward his Lord and will meet Him, either with an easy account or with regret and punishment.
Why It Matters It teaches that every person is traveling toward Allah, that deeds will be shown, that happiness with family in this world cannot save a person who rejects accountability, and that the Qur’an should be met with humble prostration, not denial.
Purpose It trains the heart to prepare for meeting Allah, seek an easy account, fear being given the record behind the back, recognize the stages of life and the Hereafter, and respond to Allah’s verses with faith, humility, and obedience.
