مِنMinfrom
وَرَآئِهِمWaraaa’ihimbehind them / beyond them
مُّحِيطٌۢMuheetis surrounding

Simple Explanation

Allah reminds the Prophet ﷺ of earlier armies like Pharaoh and Thamud. They were powerful in the world, but their power did not save them from Allah.

The disbelievers continue in denial, yet Allah surrounds them from behind. They are never outside His control, even when they imagine themselves safe.

This gives courage to believers: tyrants, armies, and deniers are all surrounded by Allah’s power.
