The Scale and the Sirat

After the gathering and accountability, every deed and every right will matter. This page explains al-Mizan, the Scale of justice, how people’s rights will be settled, and how as-Sirat will be crossed only by Allah’s mercy.

Important Note !

The Scale and the Sirat are from the unseen

The Scale and the Sirat are real matters of the Hereafter taught through the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah. We believe in them without turning the unseen into fantasy, folk stories, or frightening entertainment. The goal is not panic. The goal is repentance, justice, sincerity, and hope in Allah’s mercy.

What al-Mizan and as-Sirat mean

The Scale and the Sirat come after gathering and accountability. They show Allah’s perfect justice and the servant’s need for mercy.

al-Mizan01

The Scale

al-Mizan means the Scale. Allah will set up the scales of justice on the Day of Resurrection, and no soul will be wronged even by the weight of a mustard seed.

Source

Qur’an 21:47 mentions the scales of justice and that no soul will be wronged.

as-Sirat02

The bridge over Jahannam

as-Sirat is the bridge placed over Jahannam. People will cross it according to their deeds, and no one is safe except by Allah’s saving mercy.

Source

Sahih al-Bukhari 6573 describes the bridge being placed over the Fire and people being seized according to their deeds.

Common Name03

Pul Sirat

Pul Sirat is the common Urdu and Hindi phrase many people use for as-Sirat. The teaching is authentic, but extra folk stories around it should be checked carefully before being taught.

Order04

Where this page fits

First people are resurrected and gathered, then brought to account, then deeds and rights are weighed and settled, then the Sirat is crossed by Allah’s permission.

Allah will take account with perfect justice

The account will not be run by status, family name, wealth, followers, excuses, or emotional performance. The account belongs to Allah.

Justice01

No deed will be lost

Quran Meaning

Allah will bring forth even the weight of a mustard seed, and He is sufficient as Reckoner. Source: Qur’an 21:47, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

Every person will be known completely. Nothing hidden in the heart, nothing done in private, and nothing forgotten by people is hidden from Allah.

How to apply

Do not live by “no one knows.” Allah knows. Repent from hidden sins and build hidden deeds that only Allah sees.

Atom Weight02

Small good and small evil will be seen

Quran Meaning

Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it. Source: Qur’an 99:7-8.

Deep explanation

A kind word, hidden charity, private repentance, small betrayal, whispered lie, backbiting, and unpaid right are not weightless before Allah.

How to apply

Do not belittle good deeds. Do not treat “small” sins as harmless. The Scale teaches the heart precision.

Warning03

Allah is not unaware of wrongdoers

Quran Meaning

Allah is not unaware of what wrongdoers do; He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror. Source: Qur’an 14:42, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

If a wrongdoer seems safe in this world, that is not escape. It is delay until a Day when power, clever words, and public image cannot protect anyone.

How to apply

Apology, returning wealth, stopping oppression, and asking forgiveness in this life are lighter than facing the account later.

Heart Check04

The account belongs to Allah

People can misjudge. Files can disappear. Witnesses can be pressured. Stories can be edited. But Allah’s knowledge is complete, His justice is perfect, and His mercy is vast for those who return to Him.

Hadith Qudsi

Allah forbade oppression for Himself and made it forbidden among people. Source: Sahih Muslim 2577, meaning summarized.

What will be heavy and light on the Scale?

Deeds have weight by Allah’s command. Sincerity can make a quiet deed heavy, and showing off can empty a deed that looked huge to people.

Heavy01

Good deeds have weight

  • Sincere prayer.
  • Charity from halal wealth.
  • Dhikr and Qur’an.
  • Patience and truthfulness.
  • Kindness and mercy.
  • Hidden obedience done only for Allah.
Danger02

Evil deeds have weight against a person

  • Oppression and cruelty.
  • Backbiting and slander.
  • Lying and false promises.
  • Showing off in worship.
  • Stealing rights and wealth.
  • Harming people while feeling safe.
Quran03

Heavy scales are success

Quran Meaning

Those whose scales are heavy are successful and will be in a pleasing life. Those whose scales are light have ruined themselves. Sources: Qur’an 101:6-11 and Qur’an 23:102-103, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

Success is not measured by how loudly people praised the deed, but by whether Allah accepted it.

Dhikr04

Words heavy on the Scale

Arabic Dhikr

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allah al-‘Azim.

Meaning

Glory and praise be to Allah; glory be to Allah the Magnificent. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 7563 and Sahih Muslim 2694.

How to apply

Recite often through the day, especially when the tongue is free.

Sincerity05

Quiet deeds can become mountains

A deed that looks large to people can become empty if it was done for praise. A quiet deed can become huge if it was done sincerely for Allah.

Warning06

Do not become proud of good deeds

A believer does good, but does not become arrogant. Deeds are accepted by Allah’s mercy. Ask Allah for acceptance, not only action.

Who and what will be judged first?

Different narrations mention different “first” matters, and each has its own place. Do not mix them.

First Deed01

Salah will be the first deed judged

Hadith Meaning

The first deed a servant will be called to account for is Salah. Source: Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 413, meaning summarized.

How to apply

Protect Salah / Namaz, learn it properly, pray on time, and return to it immediately if you have been neglectful.

First Case02

Bloodshed will be judged first between people

Hadith Meaning

The first matters judged between people will be cases of bloodshed. Sources: Sahih Muslim 1678a and Sahih al-Bukhari 6864, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

This shows how serious harm to life is before Allah.

First to Cross03

The Prophet ﷺ will be first to cross the Sirat

Hadith Meaning

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said he will be the first to cross the bridge over Hell. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6573, meaning summarized.

How to apply

Love him correctly: send salawat, follow his Sunnah, and do not use love as an excuse for disobedience.

Riya04

Public image will not save empty deeds

Sahih Muslim mentions a person known for fighting, a person known for knowledge or recitation, and a wealthy giver whose deeds were not done sincerely for Allah. This teaches that the account is not based on reputation.

Source

Sahih Muslim 1905a, meaning summarized.

People’s rights will be settled

No oppressed person will be lost in the crowd. Allah will bring justice, even when worldly systems failed.

Bankrupt Person01

Good deeds can be taken for those wronged

Hadith Meaning

The truly bankrupt person comes with prayer, fasting, and charity, but had insulted, slandered, consumed wealth, shed blood, or struck others. His good deeds are given to those he wronged; if his good deeds run out, their sins are placed upon him. Source: Sahih Muslim 2581, meaning summarized.

How to apply

Do not comfort yourself with worship while harming people. Return rights, apologise, stop oppression, and repair what can be repaired.

Complete Justice02

Even animals show the seriousness of justice

Hadith Meaning

Rights will be restored so fully that even the hornless sheep will take its right from the horned sheep. Source: Sahih Muslim 2582, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

If Allah restores justice even between animals, then human oppression, abuse, cheating, slander, and stolen rights are not forgotten.

Oppression03

Oppression becomes darkness

Hadith Meaning

Oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Sources: Sahih al-Bukhari 2447 and Sahih Muslim 2579, meaning summarized.

How to apply

Return money, fix family rights, stop slander, leave backbiting, and do not wait for the Scale to teach what the heart refused to learn.

Before Paradise04

Wrongs between believers may still be settled

A hadith mentions believers being stopped on a bridge between Paradise and Hell so wrongs between them are settled before they enter Paradise. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6535, meaning summarized.

The prophets will say “myself” and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will intercede

The great intercession shows the terror of the standing, the humility of the prophets, and the honour Allah gives to His Messenger ﷺ.

Seeking Relief01

People will go from prophet to prophet

The people will seek relief from the terror of the standing. They will go to Adam عليه السلام, then Nuh عليه السلام, then Ibrahim عليه السلام, then Musa عليه السلام, then Isa عليه السلام.

  • Each prophet will show humility before Allah.
  • They will not behave as if they control the Day.
  • They will say, in meaning, “myself, myself,” and direct the people onward.
  • Isa عليه السلام will direct them to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Intercession02

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ will intercede by Allah’s permission

Hadith Meaning

The Prophet ﷺ will go beneath the Throne and fall in prostration before Allah. Allah will teach him praises, then it will be said to him: raise your head, ask and you will be granted, intercede and your intercession will be accepted. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 4712, meaning summarized.

My followers

In Sahih al-Bukhari, the wording includes “My followers, O my Lord.” This is the meaning people often express as “Ummati, Ummati.”

Important

Intercession is not a license to sin. Shafa‘ah belongs to Allah’s permission.

Quran03

Intercession is only by Allah’s permission

Intercession will only benefit the one for whom Allah permits and whose words He accepts. Source: Qur’an 20:109, meaning summarized.

How to Apply04

Love the Prophet ﷺ correctly

Hope for his intercession, send blessings upon him, learn his Sunnah, follow his guidance, avoid oppression, and do not use intercession as an excuse to harm people.

What will happen at the Sirat Bridge?

The Sirat will be placed over Jahannam. The crossing will happen according to Allah’s command, justice, and mercy.

The Bridge01

The Sirat will be placed over the Fire

Hadith Meaning

The bridge will be placed over the Fire, and the Prophet ﷺ will be the first to cross. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6573, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

This is from authentic hadith, not a symbolic story. The crossing is a real stage of the Hereafter.

Dua of Prophets02

“O Allah, save, save”

Arabic Dua

اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ، سَلِّمْ

Transliteration

Allahumma sallim, sallim.

Meaning

O Allah, save, save. This is the dua of the prophets on that Day. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6573, meaning summarized.

How to apply

Say it as a reminder that safety is only from Allah.

Hooks03

People will be seized according to deeds

Hadith Meaning

The hadith mentions hooks like the thorns of Sa‘dan, while their true size is known only to Allah. Some will cross safely, some will be scratched, some will be held back, and some will fall by what they earned. Sources: Sahih al-Bukhari 6573 and Sahih al-Bukhari 806, meaning summarized.

Deep explanation

If the prophets are saying “O Allah, save,” ordinary people should not walk through life with arrogance.

Avoid Claims04

Do not invent details

The famous claim that the Sirat is definitely “thinner than hair and sharper than a sword” is widely repeated. For a teaching page, do not present it as the main authentic wording unless using verified reports and scholarly grading. Stick to established hadith about the bridge, hooks, deeds, and Allah’s saving mercy.

What helps the Scale and the crossing?

The believer prepares before seeing the Scale and Sirat: worship, repentance, justice, and sincere hidden deeds.

Salah01

Protect prayer

Salah is the first deed a servant is called to account for. Guard it carefully and return to it without delay.

Tawheed02

Keep tawheed clean

No deed is safe if a person destroys the foundation of worship. Worship Allah alone and avoid shirk.

Rights03

Make rights light now

Repay debts, return trusts, seek forgiveness, and stop harming people before the Day becomes heavy.

Tongue04

Guard speech

Backbiting, slander, insults, false accusations, and cruel jokes are not “just words.” They can become claims against a person.

Hidden Deeds05

Do private good

Hidden charity, private repentance, secret dua, and silent patience train the soul to seek Allah, not applause.

Dua06

Ask for easy reckoning

The believer acts, repents, and begs Allah for mercy instead of relying on himself.

Duas and dhikr to recite

Recite these with understanding, while also correcting prayer, rights, speech, and private life.

Easy Reckoning01

For an easy reckoning

Arabic Dua

اللَّهُمَّ حَاسِبْنِي حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

Transliteration

Allahumma hasibni hisaban yasira.

Meaning

O Allah, bring me to account with an easy reckoning. Source: Musnad Ahmad 24215, meaning.

When to recite

Recite in salah or general dua when asking Allah for safety on the Day of Resurrection.

Heavy Dhikr02

Heavy on the Scale

Arabic Dhikr

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ

Transliteration

Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi, Subhan Allah al-‘Azim.

Meaning

Glory and praise be to Allah; glory be to Allah the Magnificent. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 7563 and Sahih Muslim 2694.

Sirat03

When remembering the Sirat

Arabic Dua

اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْ، سَلِّمْ

Transliteration

Allahumma sallim, sallim.

Meaning

O Allah, save, save. This is the dua of the prophets on that Day. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6573.

Manners04

For evil manners and deeds

Arabic Dua

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ مُنْكَرَاتِ الْأَخْلَاقِ وَالْأَعْمَالِ وَالْأَهْوَاءِ

Transliteration

Allahumma inni a‘udhu bika min munkaratil-akhlaqi wal-a‘mali wal-ahwa’.

Meaning

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from evil manners, deeds, and desires. Source: Jami‘ at-Tirmidhi 3591, meaning.

Repentance05

Qur’anic repentance

Arabic Dua

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Transliteration

Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin.

Meaning

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers. Source: Qur’an 7:23.

Need06

Do not leave me to myself

Arabic Dua

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ أَسْتَغِيثُ، أَصْلِحْ لِي شَأْنِي كُلَّهُ، وَلَا تَكِلْنِي إِلَى نَفْسِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ

Transliteration

Ya Hayyu ya Qayyum, bi rahmatika astaghith, aslih li sha’ni kullahu, wa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata ‘ayn.

Meaning

O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. Rectify all my affairs and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.

Wrong claims people make about the Scale and Sirat

Correct belief protects the page from casual claims, folk additions, and false confidence.

Wrong Claim01

“Good people never need to fear the Sirat.”

Wrong. The prophets themselves will be saying, “O Allah, save, save.” Fear and hope must stay together.

Wrong Claim02

“If I pray, harming people will not matter.”

Wrong. The bankrupt person had prayer, fasting, and charity, yet lost deeds because of people’s rights.

Wrong Claim03

“Allah will ignore small sins.”

Do not speak without knowledge. Allah forgives whom He wills, but the Qur’an says atom-weight evil will be seen.

Wrong Claim04

“Every famous religious figure is safe.”

Wrong. Sincerity matters. Deeds done for praise can become a disaster.

Wrong Claim05

“Pul Sirat has seven fixed checkpoints with exact questions.”

Do not teach this as authentic unless a reliable scholar verifies the report. Stick to the established hadith about the bridge, hooks, deeds, and Allah’s saving mercy.

Wrong Claim06

“If someone wronged me, I can become cruel back.”

Wrong. Seek justice in halal ways, make dua, and protect your own Scale from revenge, slander, and transgression.

What this topic teaches us

The Scale and Sirat should change how we pray, speak, earn, forgive, repay, repent, and hope.

Good Deeds01

Do not belittle any good deed

A tiny sincere deed may be heavy with Allah.

Sins02

Do not belittle any sin

A “small” injustice may become a claim against you when you are desperate for every good deed.

Prayer03

Fix your Salah / Namaz

The first account of deeds begins with Salah.

Rights04

Fear people’s rights

Money, honour, family duties, employee rights, inheritance, debts, and words all matter.

Prophet ﷺ05

Love the Prophet ﷺ correctly

Hope for his intercession, send blessings upon him, and follow his Sunnah instead of using love as an excuse for disobedience.

Sirat06

Prepare before seeing it

Walk straight in this life so Allah makes your crossing safe in the Hereafter.

Final Reminder!

Make your Scale heavy before you see it

The Scale and the Sirat are not distant stories. They are part of the road every soul is travelling toward. Protect Salah / Namaz, return rights, clean your tongue, repent from hidden sins, keep tawheed pure, do private good deeds, and ask Allah for safety. No one crosses by ego. Safety is from Allah alone.

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّٰهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

All praise is for Allah, Lord of all worlds.
