Dua for Worry and Grief
For worry, sadness, debt pressure, weakness, and feeling overpowered.
Explanation
When and why this dua was introduced / taught
This dua was introduced to the Ummah through the regular practice of the Prophet ﷺ. Anas ibn Malik رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge with Allah from these exact burdens. It was not tied to one single event; it was a Prophetic protection for repeated human struggles: worry, grief, weakness, laziness, debt, and pressure from people.
Why this dua matters
Sadness is not always only emotional. Sometimes it comes with helplessness, unpaid responsibilities, fear, weakness, or people overpowering us. This dua gathers both the inner pain and the outer pressure, then places all of it before Allah.
When to read
Read it when your heart feels heavy, when anxiety keeps returning, when debt or people’s pressure is crushing you, or when sadness is making you inactive.
How to implement
After reading it, take one small halal step: pray, ask Allah honestly, make a simple plan, speak to someone trustworthy if needed, and do not let grief turn into laziness or despair.
Benefit and lesson
It teaches the heart that Allah is the refuge from what hurts inside the chest and what overwhelms life outside it.
