Ayah 1
Surah Al-Fatihah

ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Transliteration

Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘alameen

English Translation

All praise is for Allah, the Lord of all worlds.

Simple Explanation

This ayah teaches that every true praise belongs to Allah. Every blessing, every protection, every success, every breath, every mercy, and every moment of guidance comes from Him. Allah is not only the Creator. He is Rabb: the One who creates, owns, cares, provides, raises, corrects, and sustains every world.

When you say Alhamdu lillahi Rabbil ‘alameen, do not rush it. Pause and tell your heart: Ya Allah, every blessing I have came from You. The food I ate, the breath I took, the protection I did not notice, the chances You gave me, and the guidance You placed in my heart, all of it is from You.

Allah is not only Rabb of the skies, the earth, and every world. He is my Rabb too. He knows me, provides for me, protects me, corrects me, and keeps calling me back even when I forget Him.

Ayah 2
Surah Al-Fatihah

ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration

Ar-Rahmanir-Raheem

English Translation

The Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

This ayah reminds you that Allah’s mercy is not small, limited, or distant. His mercy surrounds creation in this world, and His special mercy is for those who believe, turn back to Him, and seek His pleasure.

When you say Ar-Rahmanir-Raheem, let your heart remember that Allah knows every weakness you hide and every tear no one sees. His mercy reached you before you even knew how to ask for it.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, I do not survive because I am strong. I survive because Your mercy carries me, covers me, and brings me back when I fall.

Ayah 3
Surah Al-Fatihah

مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

Transliteration

Maliki yawmid-deen

English Translation

Master of the Day of Judgment.

This ayah teaches that there will be a Day when every deed, word, intention, injustice, patience, and hidden struggle will be brought before Allah. No one will own power on that Day except Allah.

When you say Maliki yawmid-deen, remember that life is not random and pain is not wasted. Every hidden good deed has a Lord who sees it.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, make me ready for the Day I meet You. Do not let me live only for people’s praise. Make my actions clean, sincere, and accepted by You.

Reflection: If I stood before Allah today, what action would I wish I had changed?
Ayah 4
Surah Al-Fatihah

إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ

Transliteration

Iyyaka na‘budu wa iyyaka nasta‘een

English Translation

You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, help me worship You when it is easy and when it is hard. Help me when my heart is weak, my mind is tired, and my strength is not enough.

Reflection: Where am I relying too much on myself and not asking Allah for help enough?
Ayah 5
Surah Al-Fatihah

ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ

Transliteration

Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqeem

English Translation

Guide us to the Straight Path.

When you say Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqeem, say it like someone who truly needs direction. You are not asking for information only. You are asking Allah to hold your heart and guide your choices.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, guide me when I am confused, correct me when I am wrong, and do not leave me to my ego, desires, or weak judgment.

Ayah 6
Surah Al-Fatihah

صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ

Transliteration

Siratal-ladhina an‘amta ‘alayhim

English Translation

The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor.

When you say Siratal-ladhina an‘amta ‘alayhim, imagine asking Allah to place your feet on the road of those who pleased Him. Not the road of ego, show-off, arrogance, or heedlessness.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, join me with the people You love. Make me love what they loved, avoid what they avoided, and walk toward You with sincerity.

Ayah 7
Surah Al-Fatihah

غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ

Transliteration

Ghayril-maghdoobi ‘alayhim wa lad-daalleen

English Translation

Not of those who earned anger, nor of those who went astray.

Say in your heart: Ya Allah, do not let my heart become proud, blind, careless, or confused. Show me truth as truth and help me follow it. Show me falsehood as falsehood and help me avoid it.
