Main Message A short Makki surah of comfort and honor, in which Allah tells the Prophet ﷺ that He has given him Al-Kawthar, commands prayer and sacrifice for Allah alone, and declares that his enemy is the one truly cut off.
Why It Matters It teaches that Allah’s gifts are greater than people’s insults, that blessings should lead to sincere worship, and that real honor and lasting legacy come only from Allah.

Ayah 1
Surah Al-Kawthar

إِنَّآ أَعْطَيْنَـٰكَ ٱلْكَوْثَرَ

Transliteration

Innaaa a‘tainaakal-kawthar

English Translation

Indeed, We have given you Al-Kawthar.

Simple Explanation

Allah comforts the Prophet ﷺ by declaring that He has given him Al-Kawthar. Al-Kawthar means abundant good, and it also refers to the river granted to the Prophet ﷺ in Paradise.

This ayah shows that Allah’s gifts are greater than the insults, rejection, or sadness caused by people.

The heart learns that when Allah gives, no enemy can truly reduce the honor of His servant.

Surah Al-Kawthar

فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَٱنْحَرْ

Transliteration

Fasalli li Rabbika wanhar

English Translation

So pray to your Lord and sacrifice.

Surah Al-Kawthar

إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ ٱلْأَبْتَرُ

Transliteration

Inna shaani’aka huwal-abtar

English Translation

Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.
