Umrah al-Qada

This chapter covers the fulfilled Umrah after Hudaybiyyah: the Muslims’ return to Makkah the following year, the promise of Allah becoming visible, the dignity of the believers around the Ka'bah, the three-day stay, the display of strength during tawaf, and the link to the next household event, the marriage to Maymunah

Where This Chapter Fits

At Hudaybiyyah, the Muslims returned without Umrah. The treaty allowed them to come the following year. Umrah al-Qada was the moment that delay turned into fulfilment before their eyes.

Before01

Safiyyah

The previous chapter completed the Khaybar household thread with dignity.

This stage02

Promised Umrah

The Muslims returned to Makkah as agreed in the treaty.

After03

Maymunah

The next chapter covers the Prophet’s ﷺ marriage to Maymunah

The Promise of Hudaybiyyah Becomes Visible

When the Prophet ﷺ and the believers left Hudaybiyyah the year before, many hearts had struggled with the delay. They had come in ihram, brought sacrificial animals, and longed to enter Makkah, but they returned to Madinah without performing Umrah.

Now the next year came. The Muslims returned according to the treaty, and Allah’s promise became visible. They entered the sacred precincts in peace, fulfilling what had seemed impossible during the tension of Hudaybiyyah.

This was not only a ritual journey. It was a lesson in trusting Allah when the first answer looks like delay.

Qur'an 48:27; Sahih al-Bukhari 2731; Seerah reports

The True Dream Fulfilled

Meaning: “You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque, if Allah wills, in safety.”

Qur'an 48:27

The Muslims Return to Makkah

The Prophet ﷺ came with the believers for the Umrah that had been delayed. Quraysh left the central area so the Muslims could perform the rites for the agreed period.

For many Companions, this was the first time returning to Makkah after years of persecution, migration, battle, and separation. The same city that had pushed them out now watched them enter with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Their return was calm, disciplined, and dignified. They did not enter as people drunk on revenge. They entered as worshippers answering Allah.

Sahih al-Bukhari 4251; Sahih Muslim 1783; Seerah reports

Enter in Safety

Meaning: “In safety, with heads shaved and hair shortened, not fearing.”

Qur'an 48:27

Strength during tawaf

Reports mention that Quraysh said the fever of Madinah had weakened the Muslims. The Prophet ﷺ instructed the believers to show strength in the first circuits of tawaf, so Quraysh would see their firmness.

This was not arrogance. It was a dignified answer to enemy mockery and a visible sign that the believers were not broken.

Sahih al-Bukhari 1602; Sahih Muslim 1266

The Ka'bah after years away

The believers performed tawaf around the Ka'bah after being kept away the year before. Their steps around the House carried memory: torture in Makkah, Hijrah, Badr, Uhud, Khandaq, Hudaybiyyah, and now fulfilment.

Allah had brought them back without panic and without fear.

Qur'an 48:27; Seerah reports

Allah Knew What You Did Not Know

Meaning: “He knew what you did not know and made, before that, a near victory.”

Qur'an 48:27

The Three-Day Stay

The treaty allowed the Muslims to remain in Makkah for three days. They performed Umrah and stayed within the agreed terms.

When the time ended, Quraysh reminded the Prophet ﷺ of the treaty condition, and the Muslims left. The Prophet ﷺ honoured the agreement, even though the House of Allah was beloved to him and to the believers.

This shows the discipline of prophethood. Love for sacred places does not cancel a covenant.

Sahih al-Bukhari 4251; Sahih Muslim 1783; Seerah reports

Fulfil the Covenant

Meaning: “Fulfil the covenant. Indeed, the covenant will be asked about.”

Qur'an 17:34

The Daughter of Hamzah

During this period, the daughter of Hamzah رضي الله عنه followed the Muslims and called out to them. A discussion then arose over who should care for her.

Ali رضي الله عنه, Ja'far رضي الله عنه, and Zayd ibn Harithah رضي الله عنه all had claims of care and closeness. The Prophet ﷺ judged that she should be with Ja'far رضي الله عنه because her maternal aunt was married to him, and the maternal aunt is like a mother.

This incident belongs beautifully here because it shows that even during a major Umrah and treaty moment, the Prophet ﷺ protected family rights and the care of a young girl with wisdom.

Sahih al-Bukhari 2699; Sahih al-Bukhari 4251; Sahih Muslim 1783

Mercy in Family Care

Meaning: “And do good so that you may succeed.”

Qur'an 22:77
Promise01

Hudaybiyyah fulfilled

The Umrah delayed the year before was completed by Allah’s permission.

Strength02

Firmness shown

The believers showed Quraysh that Madinah had not weakened them.

Covenant03

Terms honoured

The Prophet ﷺ left after the agreed period and upheld the treaty.

Maymunah رضي الله عنها and the Next Household Chapter

The marriage to Maymunah رضي الله عنها is connected to this period and the return from Umrah al-Qada. Her story deserves its own chapter because it connects family ties, Makkah, and the Prophet’s ﷺ household near the close of this Umrah journey.

This page therefore completes the Umrah itself and places the doorway for Maymunah رضي الله عنها next.

The Seerah here moves from promise fulfilled to another marriage among the Mothers of the Believers.

Sahih al-Bukhari 4258; Sahih Muslim 1410; biographical reports

Why Umrah al-Qada Matters

Umrah al-Qada matters because it proved that Hudaybiyyah was not a cancelled dream. It was a delayed fulfilment. The believers returned to Makkah with worship, discipline, and visible strength.

It also showed that the Prophet ﷺ honoured agreements even when the heart longed to remain in Makkah. Truthfulness in treaties was part of the beauty of Islam.

For the believers, every step around the Ka'bah carried the taste of Allah’s promise. What had been hard to understand at Hudaybiyyah now stood before them in the Sacred House.

Dua for Acceptance

Meaning: “Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”

Qur'an 2:127

Keep Hudaybiyyah connected

This Umrah is the visible fulfilment of the treaty’s delayed promise.

Keep worship central

The heart of the chapter is the believers returning to the Ka'bah in obedience.

Her marriage is connected to this period and needs its own page.
