Surah An-Naba

The Great News

النبأ
Arabic Name النبأ
Meaning of the Name The Great News
Revealed In Makkah
Type Makki Surah
Total Ayahs 40 Ayahs
Main Message A Makki surah that begins by questioning the people about the Great News of Resurrection, points to Allah’s signs in the earth, mountains, sleep, night, day, sky, sun, clouds, rain, plants, and gardens, then describes the Day of Decision, the punishment of the rebellious, and the reward of the people of taqwa.
Why It Matters It teaches that the Hereafter is the great news people argue about, that creation itself proves Allah’s power to resurrect, and that every person will face the Day when deeds become clear and regret will not help the denier.
Purpose It trains the heart to see Allah’s signs in daily life, believe firmly in the Day of Decision, fear the end of rebellion, hope for the reward of taqwa, and prepare before the Day when a person will see what his hands sent ahead.
