بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: {وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ}
قَالَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ خُثَيْمٍ وَالْحَسَنُ كُلٌّ عَلَيْهِ هَيِّنٌ. هَيْنٌ وَهَيِّنٌ مِثْلُ لَيْنٍ وَلَيِّنٍ، وَمَيْتٍ وَمَيِّتٍ، وَضَيْقٍ وَضَيِّقٍ.
{أَفَعَيِينَا} أَفَأَعْيَا عَلَيْنَا حِينَ أَنْشَأَكُمْ وَأَنْشَأَ خَلْقَكُمْ، لُغُوبٌ النَّصَبُ.
{أَطْوَارًا} طَوْرًا كَذَا، وَطَوْرًا كَذَا، عَدَا طَوْرَهُ أَيْ قَدْرَهُ.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ مُحْرِزٍ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ ... فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُحَدِّثُ بَدْءَ الْخَلْقِ وَالْعَرْشِ ...
Some people of Bani Tamim came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and he said, “O Bani Tamim! Rejoice with glad tidings.” They asked for worldly gifts, so the people of Yemen were called instead and accepted the glad tidings. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) started speaking about the beginning of creation and Allah’s Throne.

حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ... قَالَ " كَانَ اللَّهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ شَىْءٌ غَيْرُهُ، وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُ عَلَى الْمَاءِ، وَكَتَبَ فِي الذِّكْرِ كُلَّ شَىْءٍ، وَخَلَقَ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ ".
The Yemenites asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about the start of creation. He said: “First of all, there was nothing but Allah. His Throne was over the water, He wrote everything in the Book, and created the heavens and the earth.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) once stood among the people for a long period and informed them about the beginning of creation until he mentioned the entry of the people of Paradise into Paradise and the people of Hell into Hell. Some remembered it and some forgot it.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said that Allah said: “The son of Adam slights Me by saying that I have a son, and he disbelieves in Me by saying that I shall not recreate him as I created him before.”

Narrated by Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Al-Harith from Abu Salama bin `Abdur-Rahman
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ... فَقَالَتْ يَا أَبَا سَلَمَةَ اجْتَنِبِ الأَرْضَ، فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ " مَنْ ظَلَمَ قِيدَ شِبْرٍ طُوِّقَهُ مِنْ سَبْعِ أَرَضِينَ ".
Abu Salama had a land dispute, so `Aisha told him to avoid unjust land-taking because the Prophet (ﷺ) said that whoever takes even a span of land unjustly will be encircled with it down seven earths.

The Prophet (ﷺ) asked Abu Dhar where the sun goes at sunset and said that it goes until it prostrates underneath the Throne and seeks permission to rise again.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ... " إِذَا مَاتَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ يُعْرَضُ عَلَيْهِ مَقْعَدُهُ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ ... ".
The Prophet (ﷺ) said that when one of you dies, his place is shown to him morning and evening. If he is among the people of Paradise, he is shown his place in Paradise; if among the people of Hell, then his place in Hell.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I looked at Paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and found that the majority of its inhabitants were women.”

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said that Allah has prepared for His righteous servants what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has never crossed a human heart.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ ... " أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ تَلِجُ الْجَنَّةَ صُورَتُهُمْ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ... ".
The first group to enter Paradise will be like the full moon. They will not spit, blow their noses, or relieve nature. Their utensils will be of gold, their combs of gold and silver, and their sweat will smell like musk.

Narrated by Abu Dhar
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ... " أَبْرِدُوا بِالصَّلاَةِ، فَإِنَّ شِدَّةَ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ ".
During travel the Prophet (ﷺ) said to delay the Zuhr prayer until it became cooler, explaining that severe heat is from the heat of Hell.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ... " اشْتَكَتِ النَّارُ إِلَى رَبِّهَا ... فَأَذِنَ لَهَا بِنَفَسَيْنِ ... ".
Hell complained to its Lord that its parts were consuming one another, so Allah allowed it two breaths, one in winter and one in summer, which correspond to the most severe heat and bitter cold.

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Your worldly fire is one of seventy parts of the Fire of Hell.” It was made sixty-nine parts hotter beyond the worldly fire.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ... " يُجَاءُ بِالرَّجُلِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ، فَتَنْدَلِقُ أَقْتَابُهُ ... ".
A man who used to order good and forbid evil, but did not act accordingly, will be thrown into Hell and his intestines will come out as he goes around like a donkey around a millstone.

وَقَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: {يُقْذَفُونَ} يُرْمَوْنَ. {دُحُورًا} مَطْرُودِينَ. {وَاصِبٌ} دَائِمٌ.
وَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: {مَدْحُورًا} مَطْرُودًا ... {قَرِينٌ} شَيْطَانٌ.

Narrated by `Aisha
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ... " سُحِرَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ... فِي بِئْرِ ذَرْوَانَ ".
Magic was worked on the Prophet (ﷺ). Allah then showed him in a dream how he was cured and identified the well of Dharwan, but the Prophet did not publicly stir the matter after Allah cured him.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ ... " يَعْقِدُ الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ رَأْسِ أَحَدِكُمْ ... ".
Satan ties three knots at the back of the head when a person sleeps. If he remembers Allah, performs ablution, and prays, the knots are undone and he wakes energetic and in good spirits.

The Prophet (ﷺ) taught the du`a before intimacy: “In the name of Allah. O Allah, keep Satan away from us and from what You grant us.” If a child is conceived, Satan will not harm it.

وَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْهَيْثَمِ ... " إِذَا أَوَيْتَ إِلَى فِرَاشِكَ فَاقْرَأْ آيَةَ الْكُرْسِيِّ ... " فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم " صَدَقَكَ وَهُوَ كَذُوبٌ، ذَاكَ شَيْطَانٌ ".
The thief who came to the Zakat food taught Abu Huraira to recite Ayat al-Kursi before sleep for protection, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “He told you the truth though he is a liar. That was a Satan.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ... " يَأْتِي الشَّيْطَانُ أَحَدَكُمْ فَيَقُولُ مَنْ خَلَقَ كَذَا ... ".
The Prophet (ﷺ) said that Satan comes with whisperings like “Who created this?” until he says “Who created your Lord?” When that happens, one should seek refuge with Allah and stop such thoughts.

When Ramadan enters, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said that when night falls children should be kept close at first because devils spread out then. Doors should be shut, lamps put out, water skins tied, and utensils covered with Allah’s name mentioned.

حَدَّثَنِي مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ ... " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنَ الإِنْسَانِ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ ... ".
While the Prophet (ﷺ) was in i`tikaf, he escorted Safiya at night. When two Ansari men saw him, he told them not to hurry and explained that Satan flows through the human being like blood.

Two men abused each other in front of the Prophet (ﷺ). He said he knew a word that would remove the anger: “I seek refuge with Allah from Satan.”
