When entering the toilet
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ
Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minal-khubuthi wal-khaba’ith.
O Allah, I seek refuge with You from male and female devils.

When shaytan whispers
أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
A’udhu billahi minash-shaytanir-rajim.
I seek refuge with Allah from the rejected Shaytan.
When: When whispers, anger, fear, or sinful thoughts rise. Source: Qur’an 7:200 and 16:98.
Against devils being near
رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ
Rabbi a’udhu bika min hamazatish-shayatin. Wa a’udhu bika rabbi an yahdurun.
My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the incitements of the devils, and I seek refuge with You, my Lord, from their presence.
When: When fearing evil, whispers, panic, or the presence of shayateen. Source: Qur’an 23:97-98.
At night before sleep
آيَةُ الْكُرْسِي
Recite Ayat al-Kursi: Allahu la ilaha illa Huwa al-Hayyul-Qayyum...
The verse of Allah’s Kursi from Surah al-Baqarah, 2:255.
When: Before sleep. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 2311.
Last two verses of al-Baqarah
آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ ...
Recite the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah.
These verses contain iman, submission, forgiveness, mercy, and seeking Allah’s help.
When: At night. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 5009.
Morning and evening protection
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Bismillahilladhi la yadurru ma’as-mihi shay’un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama’i wa Huwas-Sami’ul-’Alim.
In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing on earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
When: Morning and evening, three times. Source: Sunan Abi Dawud 5088 and Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 3388.
When stopping somewhere
أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
A’udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq.
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created.
When: When stopping at a place, travelling, feeling unsafe, or entering an unfamiliar place. Source: Sahih Muslim 2708a.
Three Quls
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ، قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ، قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
Recite Surah al-Ikhlas, Surah al-Falaq, and Surah an-Nas.
Seeking Allah’s protection through the chapters of tawhid and refuge.
When: Morning, evening, and before sleep. Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 5017 and Sunan Abi Dawud 5082.
